Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-01

Effective Oct 1, 2026

Effective date: 2026-10-01

Thank you for using Dyscuvr. Dyscuvr is a small, invitation-only service that lets you and the people you invite keep track of what you are watching, playing, and reading, rate it, and talk about it with each other. Because we do not know every person who signs up personally, we need a short set of terms so everyone knows what to expect. Please read this page before you create an account; using Dyscuvr means you agree to it.

Who can use Dyscuvr

You must be at least 16 years old to use Dyscuvr. We ask you to confirm this when you create your account, and we do not ask for or store your birthdate or your age, only the fact that you confirmed it. If any part of Dyscuvr shows works marked as explicit, you must separately confirm you are 18 or older before you can turn that on, and you can turn it off again at any time.

Dyscuvr is offered to people in the United States, in English, and this page is written with that audience in mind.

You must be a real person, not a bot or an automated account, and you are responsible for keeping your sign-in method (an identity provider, a passkey, or your email address) secure. We cannot undo damage caused by someone else gaining access to your account because you shared how you sign in.

Your account

Dyscuvr is invitation-only: the people who run it decide who can sign up, through an invitation or an administrator's approval. You create an account by signing in through an identity provider you choose, by email code, or by invitation, and you are responsible for the content you post and the activity on your account, including anything posted by anyone you let use it.

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. When you do:

  • your own ratings, lists, labels, follows, blocks, mutes, and recommendations are removed;
  • a recommendation or a list entry someone else made that names you as its source is kept, but your name on it is replaced with "a former member", so their record is not rewritten as if they made it up themselves;
  • feedback you sent is kept so we can track what we fixed, but it is no longer linked to your account;
  • the record that your account signed in, and that an invitation was used, is kept, without any content attached, the way every account's sign-in history is kept.

We keep a nightly backup of the database for 30 days. Once your account is deleted, every stored backup containing your data is gone within 33 days, so a deletion is complete once that window has passed.

What you post

You own the ratings, lists, labels, and messages you create on Dyscuvr. We store them so we can show them to you and to the other people you share Dyscuvr with, and for no other purpose. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train anything.

Please do not post anything illegal, anything that harasses another person on the service, or anything you do not have the right to share. We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, that does.

Explicit material

Dyscuvr may let you mark, and see, catalog entries as explicit. It is off by default. You can turn it on only by confirming you are 18 or older, and that confirmation is asked again every time you turn it back on after turning it off.

Your data

What we collect, why, and who else sees it is in our Privacy Policy. By using Dyscuvr, you agree that we handle your data the way that policy describes, and for no other purpose.

No warranty

Dyscuvr is a small, best-effort service. We provide it "as is," without a guarantee that it will always be available, free of bugs, or error-free. We do our best to keep it running and to fix problems we find, especially anything affecting security or privacy, but we make no promise that every bug gets fixed or that the service never goes down.

Liability

To the extent the law allows it, Dyscuvr and the people who run it are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Using Dyscuvr means you accept that it is offered without that guarantee.

Ending your use

You may stop using Dyscuvr and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms, or that we otherwise have reason to close, such as a request from the person it belongs to.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page. When we do, we publish the new version here with its own effective date, and, if it is upcoming, before that date arrives. A change we consider material, such as one that changes what we collect or how we use it, asks every account to accept the new terms again before it takes effect for them; a change that is not material, such as a clarification, takes effect on its date without asking again. You can always read every earlier version of this page.
